And some women, especially celebrities like Madonna, have found the right strategy. Now some may argue that Madonna has taken it too far, but at least she has gone somewhere with her arms.
So what's so different about the right strategy and the wrong strategy? Well, for one, the right strategy should include effective exercises that tone arms and not other body parts.
As a result, I will be reviewing as many arm exercises for women as possible. I think we all deserve to know what works and what doesn't. And on today's menu is single arm reverse push downs to tone arms:
1. Summary: Usually done as a finishing move, you can only use lighter weights with this exercise. It mainly targets the lateral head of the triceps which is the outer part of your upper arm.
2. How to do it: Face a machine with a high pulley and handle. Grasp the handle with an underhand grip. Lock your elbow in place and lower the handle. Then slowly return it to the starting position.
3. Common errors: Allowing the elbow to move around. Grasping the handle with too much force which can cause pain in the wrist. And letting the chest cave in and the shoulders round forward.
4. Final word: I do not recommend this exercise to tone arms. It has two major drawbacks. First, it doesn't allow you to use heavy weights. Second, exercising one arm at a time is as inefficient as it gets.
Is figuring out how to tone arms really that hard? Not really, just make sure you are learning from the right source of information.
