How To Cure Insomnia Without Sleeping Pills Or Therapy

By Toby Wong

Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or to remain asleep long enough to feel rested, especially when this is a problem that continues over time. Most people have a sleepless night once in a while but for some people, sleeplessness is habitual and they walk around half asleep, groggy or just miserable. Without enough sleep, the entire day goes lousy and we function poorly. And if sleepless nights continue for a longer term, we forget to enjoy life.

You may wonder when insomnia would strike you and it can happen to you during any given time. There is a research shows that 1 out of 3 people suffer from some sort of insomnia. This includes inability to fall asleep, unable to sleep through the night or frequently wake up during the night.

Don't worry, there are many ways to help you sleep through your sleepless nights and cure your insomnia.

A common misconception is that people start taking sleeping pills as a mean to cure insomnia. Think again, sleeping pills are effective if you have serious issues such as bereavement, loss of your job or marital break-up. The usage of sleeping pills is a temporary crutch at best, not a long term answer. You can not cure insomnia by using such pills.

If you want to get some peaceful sleep at night, you should by all means avoid taking caffeine, tea, coffee, coke, chocolate and sugar like cheesecake etc. Don't forget to check if you are taking any diet or sinus pills that are very likely keep you awake at night.

It is also not advisable to use alcohol as sleep aid. It is another misconception that a drink or more will relax you enough to sleep but it only helps provide broken sleep. Again this is temporary and should not be used at all by those suffering from insomnia.

Also, avoid heavy meals at night and try to eat much before your sleeping time. You may also want to skip liquids at night if you are having insomnia.

Don't take afternoon nap longer than 30 minutes during the day if you can't sleep at night. Taking long nap will be likely confusing to your body sleep clock and therefore make you hard to fall asleep at night.

Do not watch TV or work on your computer on your bed if you have problem sleeping. These activities will only delay your sleep and keep your brainwaves up.

Start working out or do some exercise but just not to do it at least an hour before your bed time as it will interrupt your sleep pattern.

  1. Insomnia Hypnosis offers you an easy, natural way to have a good night sleep. You may be using or have considered sleep medication to finally get some sleep. Unfortunately, the sleeping pills frequently prescribed by physicians can be more of a problem than a solution.
