Learning How To Get Pregnant Should Be Simple

By Merrill Spann

Learning how to get pregnant is simple. Actually getting pregnant might not be so easy. But if you keep a few things in mind as you begin your quest for a baby, you may find that you are able to get pregnant more quickly and start enjoying motherhood sooner.

The mechanics behind conception are very simple ones. The egg is given off by the woman and it travels from the ovaries, down the Fallopian tubes to the uterus. There, ideally, it meets with a man's sperm and nine months later a baby is born. As simple as this may seem, there are still a huge number of women who are trying to get pregnant but are not having luck. With a few pieces of information to keep in mind, you may be able to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

If you are not having sex at the right time of the month, pregnancy will not occur. The actual timing is more critical and precise than some women think. To get pregnant, you need to have sex during the five days before you ovulate, or on the actual day you ovulate. This is because a man's sperm can live for five days inside a woman after he has ejaculated, but a woman's egg will only live one day. If there is no egg or no sperm, there will be no baby.

If you think that you ovulate fourteen days after your cycle starts, you are most likely wrong. It is true that women with very regular cycles do ovulate fourteen days in, but most women are not regular and may ovulate at different times of the month. Simply counting the days will not help to get pregnant any quicker. If you are having trouble finding out when you ovulate, you can use an ovulation predictor kit, chart your body temperature, or keep track of changes in your cervical mucus.

Taking your temperature can be a bit confusing but it doesn't have to be. If you are trying to get pregnant, you want to look for a sudden spike or jump in your body temperature. You need to take your temperature with a basal thermometer, since normal thermometers cannot tell the slight changes in temperature that can show you have ovulated. Take your temperature while lying in bed at the same time each day. Moving can cause your temperature to rise, and make the readings invalid. If you notice an increase of between .4 and .8 degrees Fahrenheit, you have ovulated which is the first step in how you get pregnant.

Cervical mucus is naturally secreted by a woman's body throughout the month. There may be a bit of time after your period has finished where you are not secreting any, but when it returns it will be tacky, thick, white and smooth. There should be no odd smell. If there is, make sure you see a doctor before trying to get pregnant as this can be a sign that you have a yeast infection or other problem. Your cervical mucus will begin to get thinner as you get closer to ovulation and on the day that ovulation occurs it will look thin and stringy like egg whites.

How often you have sex can also help increase chances of conception. If you want to know how to get pregnant fast, have sex frequently. This will help make sure that you are getting the sperm to the egg when it is ready to be fertilised and not missing the chance to conceive.

Keeping some of this information in mind may help you figure out how to get pregnant. By learning your body and what your cycle is like you will enjoy better chances of actually conceiving. Relax and enjoy the practice.
