Setting Up The Omron HBF 306 Body Fat Analyzer

The Omron HBF 306 Body Fat Analyzer features two modes -- normal and athlete. When inputting your individual data the first thing you need to do is decide which mode. Many people will already know which mode to choose, however if you need to be very given you can figure out which mode to pick by calculating your FIT index using the following formula:

FIT Index = Frequency x Intensity x Time

Frequency is a single digit number from one to five that represents your frequency of training. If you work out every day or almost every day, then use the number five; three to four times per week use four; one to two times per week use three; a few times per month use two; and for fewer than one time a month use one. If you workout vigorously, then you use the number five to correspond to your intensity level; if you workout with moderate or light effort, use the number four, and so on.

Time represents the duration of your workout. If you work out for 45 minutes or more, then use the number four; 30-44 minutes use three; 15-29 minutes use two; and for fewer than 15 minutes use one. For instance, if you run five times a week for 30 minutes, your FIT index would be 75 (5 x 5 x 3 = 75) . If your FIT index is greater than 60, use the athlete setting, if under 60 use the normal setting.

The Device will subsequently ask for your height, weight, age and gender. When all the data is fixed and stored, the analyzer screen will show "Ready," and you'll be set to grab the grips and calculate body fat percentage.
