Completely Curing Acne Overnight?

By Pamela Zeich

In a clever ruse to increase sales, many acne products have been marketed as being overnight treatments. It's understandable that your definition of acne may be far different from someone else's. However, we can all agree that acne is not the two desolate pimples which some experience every month. Acne is characterized by multiple lesions which continue to surge on the skin. The psychological effects of acne have long been ignored, however, their existence cannot be denied. Teenagers often face teasing at school, while adults multiple glares in the workplace that can have a drastic effect on one's self-esteem. Instant gratification is something we all long for, but you can rest assured that it is not something you will get when treating acne.

Any doctor who is well-versed in the treatment of skin conditions such as acne will directly tell you that treatment of pimples takes time. There are so many factors that an effective medication has to control. The cycle in which your skin sheds dead cells, for instance, needs to be regulated. These cells often clog pores causing acne. Special medications have been developed to help normalize this cycle so acne doesn't develop. Bacteria is another player in acne. It helps infamous whiteheads and under skin pimples develop. When bacteria levels are kept in control, there is less of a probability that acne will develop.

Oil production is usually not tampered with unless the patient does not respond to typical medications. In the case of those that are unresponsive to traditional treatments, they are prescribed Accutane. This medication, derived from Vitamin-A, stops sebum production. Although acne can no longer develop, the skin is unable to stay moisturized and as a result peeling can occur. While negative symptoms are a risk when taking this medication, most don't experience any of the more severe symptoms.

In accomplishing all the tasks we've established above, most prescription products require a minimum of two to three months to take effect. What happens during this time frame is not quite indicative of progress. Most patients experience an initial breakout, or IB period. More acne lesions are brought to the surface, creating the illusion that the treatment is not functioning correctly. It is in actuality accomplishing its intended purpose, and any treatment that does not cause an IB is probably not effective. One the first six weeks is over and done with, breakouts begin to slow down until eventually the patient being to notice major improvements. Most people give up before this actually happens. Without a determined mindset, you will not get rid of you acne. Anybody telling your otherwise is ill-informed.

Is there any merit in the claim that instant acne cures exist? Not really. You can treat one, two, and maybe 3 pimples overnight. It depends on how loosely defined your notion of treatment is. When we talk about acne, the treatment time frame spans months. You can accept this or continue to get scammed by clever marketers. The bottom-line is that the faster you begin treatments, the faster your results will surface. The initial breakout is unavoidable, and better to deal with now than later. With a little commitment today you can be acne free in no time.
