Basically speaking, the instructor will know and teach all his or her students the necessary exercises on the mats. Additionally, he or she will have to be capable of altering said exercises to conform to the different levels of the class.

When trying to earn certification, you should know that you will be tested in demonstration of the various exercises as well has having to undergo a written test.

The bottom line is that you can earn your mat certification in an intensive course that lasts one or two weekends. The certification costs anywhere from one to three hundred dollars.

As for the comprehensive Pilates certification, this will take much longer. In fact, you will have to have about one full year of training before trying to get certified. That is due to the various equipment and exercises that are used here. You may also need to have some private instruction to achieve your goal of being a certified Pilates instructor.
