Understanding Candidiasis In Toddlers

By Lamar S. Johnston

Though yeast infection is a common enough condition, many of us are unaware of the fact that it can affect toddlers as well. In fact many of the discomforts experienced by children have to do with yeast infection including conditions such as oral thrush, nappy or skin rash.

There are several triggers of yeast infection in babies. The use of antibiotics is one of the commonest triggers and is sometimes administered to the children at regular intervals. Since they have feeble immune systems, the young ones are susceptible to many alternative infirmities and therefore , require antibiotics to aid in recovery.

The antibiotics destroy bacteria indiscriminately including the good with the bad. The annihilation of the good bacteria can leave the growth of yeast unchecked leading to thrush. Additionally, yeast infection. can also be transferred from a mother to a child if he / she is still being breastfed.

there were known cases where a kid has become infected by yeast at time of his birth. The clear source of yeast infection is the mother of the child.

Food is another reason for yeast infection in toddlers. Kids are specifically addicted to sugar rich foods such as colas, chocolates, and sweets, sodas etc. Since the yeast survives on sugars, a sugar rich diet can render the child more prone to contracting yeast infection. Therefore, it's imperative for you to check the sugar intake of your child to prevent any ensuing yeast infection.

A lack of proper cleanliness can also lead to yeast infection in toddlers. If your child stays in wet clothes for in depth time periods or does not keep himself clean, he may become a victim of yeast infection. Yeast thrives in moist and damp atmospheres. Therefore, it's very important to keep your child moisture free at any time to prevent any yeast infection.

Since babies are not immune to yeast infections, it is only appropriate to provide treatment for them accordingly. Sometimes, it's best to dispose of the problem at its root. For instance, if your child is a victim of yeast infection brought on by a sugar rich diet, take steps to remove sugar from his daily diet at once .

OTC anti yeast products need to be avoided at all costs though. Many of the products contain various medicinal actives which may cause a wide variety of complications. Even homeopathic anti yeast medication such as Yeastrol Yeast Infection treatment have been deemed unsuitable for kids below the age of 12.

If your kid has contracted a yeast infection, you must consult a doctor at the earnest.
