Do You Understand The Term 'Past Regression'?

By John Paul Harding

Are you familiar with the idea of past life regression? As more people come to accept the idea of reincarnation, many are interested in the idea of going back over their past lives to find out more about themselves.

If you would like to try past life regression, the best first step is to keep a journal of your past lives. This journal will be your workbook as you put together the pieces of your former lives. It can contain any of the thoughts and emotions which you see as being out of context in your present life as you know it; even the seemingly most trivial of things can actually be important clues. Your emotions are an especially strong indicator. If you have any fears which seem irrational to you or you are inexplicably drawn to certain places or things, these are likely to be very important details.

A past lives journal could begin as a list of things you like and do not like, fears, favorite foods, places and other cultural details. You should also note any predispositions and talents you may have - anything which says something about who you are may turn out to be important as you decipher the clues to your past lives.

Your dreams may also contain some clues to your past lives - be sure to take notes on anything from your dreams which seem to belong to a previous life. However, you should keep in mind that much of the content of your dreams will come from the present.

You could also try past life regression.

This usually involves going to a trained past life regression therapist. These professionals are experienced in hypnotherapy and guiding you through a past life experience as well as helping you to make sense of the experience afterwards. Self hypnosis may also be able to help you have this experience.

Meditation is another technique which is used to learn about past lives.

Some people have a hard time achieving a past life regression through meditation at first, since we are often skeptical about these kinds of experiences. When you meditate, you have to learn to trust yourself.

While meditating, useful information about your past lives can come to you. You should write down everything which you experience during your meditation; this will help you to figure out which of these pieces may be tied to a former life.

Many people find meditation aids like a mandala or other focal point, incense, music or other accompaniments to be helpful. There are also recordings you can use including water sounds and other soothing audio, as well as guided meditation tapes.

Binaural beats are something else you can try.

These are specially designed recordings which contain frequencies which are tailored to help listeners quickly reach a deep meditative state. These can be very helpful in training your mind for meditation; but whatever method you choose, make sure to meditate in a place which is quiet and where you will not be distracted from the task at hand.

You need to relax your muscles and clear your mind. When one of those thoughts of your everyday concerns comes through, simply acknowledge it and move on. It may take several tries before you can successfully meditate, but you will get there - and the answers to your questions about past lives may start coming to you.

Using past life regression techniques can also assist you in dealing with problems you have in the present day. Many people find that they have had the same people around them in more than one lifetime; the past may hold clues to managing interpersonal relationships in the present.

Reincarnation in some form or another is a part of many religious traditions. Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs all believe in the concept of Karma. To put this concept into the simplest possible terms, it is the principle that the actions you take in your present life determine the circumstances of your next life. Knowing more about your past lives can help you to live a better life in the present.

The most important thing is to come to this experience with an open mind. You have to be able to accept information and be willing to learn from your past in order to improve the way you live now.

There are many experts in this field who say that a regression experience can be an excellent way to clear away emotional problems and remove mental blocks which prevent people from fulfilling their true potential.

Learning about past lives lets you prevent yourself from making the same mistakes all over again - and use what you learn to improve not just your own life, but the world around you.

You might even find that you have talents or abilities which you were not even aware of. If you see yourself in a past life as an expert pianist, for instance, you will most likely find that if you take up the instrument you will be an accomplished player quickly. Discovering these latent abilities can add to your quality of life immensely.

Past life regression offers a number of benefits to anyone who is willing to listen to what their own personal history has to tell them. As long as you approach it with an open mind, the results can be impressive.
