How To Make Yourself Taller

By Dan Jankowski

Most people do not enjoy being short. Coming from a short family I can say this. The good news there is something that you can do about it. Through good nutrition, exercises and healthy living your can grow taller at any age.

Exercise is one of the most important activities that you can do to help you grow taller. The most important time that you should be exercises is during puberty. Doing strenght training with heavy weights is extremely beneficial. This help release growth hormones. These growth hormones stimulate the growth plates at the end of the bone. This can dramatically increase your height during these years. Once the growth plates fuse to bone after puberty they will never grow again. Exercise also strengthens your core (abs, lower back, etc...). This promotes good posture which will make you taller.

There are many products out on the market reporting that they can actually increase the length of your bones after puberty. This is simply a false statement. Once your growth plates fuse into bone, it is impossible for that bone to lengthen with the exception of surgery. If you knew how bones grew this would make more sense.

Did you know that when you were a baby you had one hundred more bones than you do now as a grown up? A lot of these bones are made up of cartilage and fuse together with other bones to form full, solid adult bone. By the time we reach puberty we do have adult bones. But we still have the cartilage growth plates at the end of the bones. This will typically grow for men to the age of 21. They will continue to grow in women to age'. Remember; once they stop growing they will never grow again.

Even if you are past puberty exercise should be a part of your daily routine. As I mentioned before it will keep your bones healthy and strong. Good posture can increase your height. A lot of people have an over curvature of the lower back. Another perk is that the more lean looking you are, the taller you will look. A lean body gives the illusion of being taller than you actually are.

Pay close attention to your diet. Calcium is one of the most important minerals you can consume. It promotes healthy strong bones. Low levels of calcium results in your body using stores of its own calcium to make up for the deficiency. This will weaken the bone. Over time it may also cause your bones to shrink and be more susceptible to breaks. Make sure that the foods that you consume have plenty of protein, calories, amino acids, and other essential nutrients. Do this and you will have a body strong and healthy.
